May's 'Better Than Yesterday' Recipients

Each month the EHP coaching staff selects a member that is 'Better Than Yesterday!' The selected recipient is a great example of EHP's CREDO-- demonstrating compassion, resilience, perseverance and tenacity.

Hollie Olson was selected as May's 'Better Than Yesterday' recipients. This incredible mom of four is a wonderful role model in the EHP Community!

Why did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit 7 and half years ago after having my 4th kid. I had just moved to Fargo and needed a gym! I was terrified but also really excited to get started and try something new. I had taught cardio and kickboxing classes for 12 years and wanted a new challenge. I had 55+lbs to loose and quickly did that with CrossFit and realized how amazing CrossFit was for my whole mind and body.

Why do you continue CrossFit?

I continue to do CrossFit because it’s a daily challenge for me in everything we do mentally and physically. Like many others my mind tells me a lot of things I CAN’T do and with our amazing coaches my body proves my mind wrong. I am in the best shape of my life because of CrossFit at 39 years old. I CrossFit to be the best version of myself and also showing my kids what strength looks like inside and out! As a family we all love CrossFit and love to stay active.

What has been your greatest achievement since joining EHP?

My greatest achievement in CrossFit is competing with our team at the 2019 Dakota games! Also just getting up daily and showing up to do my best. I have had a hand full of injuries and it’s been my saving grace to be at EHP and have Karla and all the coaches take care of me. I could have let those injuries stop me but it’s only made me stronger mentally.

How has your life changed since joining EHP?

My life has changed so much by starting CrossFit and then finding EHP! It’s helped this mom of 4 at 39 years old be in the best shape of my life. I have MANY more goals and things I want to achieve but I believe I can do that because of our amazing coaches at EHP. I have been to other CrossFit boxes and EHP is phenomenal with our coaching, our building and everything we get. There is an amazing community of people I call family. The culture at EHP is what I want to stand for and also continue to teach my kids!

Since being in this quarantine I was worried about keeping up with workouts and everything, but the EHP coaches didn’t miss a day after closing their doors to coaching us the next day via zoom. I am so grateful for all their work through this and I feel the best I have ever felt. Thank you to all our coaches and also our amazing community we have at EHP.

Hollie is a great role model for not only her children, but for all of the athletes within the EHP community. The genuine compassion she shares for others is truly inspiring. As a busy mom, Hollie dedicates time every morning to attend the 5:30am class. Even during quarantine, she attended Zoom EVERY morning, missing zero weekday classes. How amazing is that?! Aside from perfect attendance, Hollie dialed in on her nutrition and is feeling the best she has ever felt.

Congratulations, Hollie! We are so happy that you focused on your health and wellbeing during this trying time. You truly are one of a kind! We cannot wait to see that beautiful contagious smile of yours soon! :)
