November's Better than Yesterday Recipient

Each month the EHP coaching staff selects a member that is 'Better Than Yesterday!' The selected recipient is a great example of EHP's CREDO-- demonstrating compassion, resilience, perseverance and tenacity.

KAITLIN JASON

EHP's newest mother, Kaitlin Jason, was selected as November's Better than Yesterday recipient.

Why did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit 7 years ago in Alexandria, MN. After years of doing strictly cardio, I was looking for something different. I honestly knew nothing about CrossFit before going to my first WOD and agreed to tag along with 2 friends. I did a quick google search and was pretty intimidated! Although I loved every minute and was absolutely hooked, it did take me about 6 months before I would show up to the gym without one of my friends. As you can imagine, CrossFit has done wonderful things for my shyness and helped me out of my comfort zone. :)

Why do you continue CrossFit? I continue CrossFit because of the community at EHP. Walking into the gym or completing a workout makes any day better. I also love the challenge CrossFit presents, both mentally and physically. .

What has been your greatest achievement since starting CrossFit?  It's hard to identify one specific achievement! I feel mentally stronger because of the tough things we do in the gym and have come to realize that I am capable of doing more than I thought. I come from a background of dance and theatre, so for this former tap and jazz dancer to throw around some weights, climb ropes and do pull-ups is an achievement in itself. For me, the gymnastics movements are the most difficult. When I joined EHP, I was unable to link any toes to bar together. After a few months, I was able to consistently link 5 reps at a time! Overall, I just feel fitter in general and enjoy showing up to challenge myself each week.

How has your life changed since joining EHP?  I am happier and healthier. I find myself worrying less about my weight and instead have started to celebrate what my body can do, rather than punishing it for not looking a certain way. I've made so many friends and connections through EHP, the community and coaching staff is unlike any other. Coach Jenny has helped me stay active at home during my pregnancy through the OIC program. As I transition into parenthood, I know EHP will be pivotal in helping me be the best Mom I can be. I'm excited to be an example for my child, share the healthy habits I've developed while at EHP and also show them how strong their Mom is, inside and out. :)

Kaitlin is the type of person who can make anyone smile! Her kind heart and compassion for others is a great asset to EHP.

Although we have not physically seen Kaitlin in 6-7 months (with the exception of Zoom), she has been extremely consistent and diligent with her at-home OIC workouts. During a year full of uncertainty we are so proud that Kaitlin made an effort to maintain a healthy and active pregnancy!

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter, Kaitlin! We look forward to watching your journey through parenthood!
